Ewan and Charley Ride Again!
Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are back on their bikes for another epic ride.
This time the duo are heading from McGregor’s home near Perth, Scotland to Boorman’s place in London. Of course they’re not taking the easy option which would be a paltry 450 miles. Instead they’re opting for a 10,000-mile route that will see them cross the North Sea to Scandinavia, head up to the Arctic Circle, then through the Baltics, across Europe and back to Blighty. The journey is expected to take two months.
On previous Long Way… rides McGregor and Boorman rode new BMWs from (2004’s Long Way Round from London to New York and 2007’s Long Way Down from London to Cape Town), while in 2020’s Long Way Up they went electric with Harley Davidson, but this time the twist is that the pair will be piloting classic bikes – a BMW and a Moto Guzzi.
“On a rather tricky, sandy bit of Long Way Up, Charley and I started to daydream about another trip to keep our minds off the scary road at hand!” explains McGregor. “This is that trip. Rusty old bikes and 10,000 miles of Scandinavia, and Eastern and Central Europe. A big loop from my house in Scotland to Charley’s house in England. Long way home … magic.”
As usual the pair will be accompanied on the adventure by film makers David Alexanian and Russ Malkin and the show will be aired on Apple TV+.
