Porsche and Airstream team up to go glamping
Airstream, maker of the original super-stylish silver travel trailer, has joined forces with Porsche’s designers to come up with a sleek new caravan concept.
As you’d expect the new trailer features Airstream’s trademark aluminium body, although in this case it’s buffed to a matte finish and has been crafted to cheat the wind to save fuel or battery power. As well as its aerodynamic shape, the trailer also has a flat underside and comes with an automatic suspension system to adjust the ‘van’s height to reduce drag. There’s carbon fibre in the construction as well, saving weight to increase travelling range whether your tow car is a petrol Porsche or an electric one.
Inside the two-berth trailer space has been maximised and there’s plenty of natural light from big windows and a skylight, while the whole of rear hatch opens to let the great outdoors inside.
Finally, when you’ve satisfied your wanderlust, the trailer is small enough to be stowed in a regular garage ready for the next adventure.
It’s just a concept for now, but cool camping of the future could soon be Porsche powered.
