Turbos on the Transfagarasan

It’s 50 years since Porsche unveiled its first Turbo and to celebrate the German sports car maker let several examples loose on Romania’s Transfagarasan Highway.

The “Great Dragon” sweeps and soars through 91 km of the southern Carpathian Mountains to link Transylvania and Muntenia. It was built between 1970 and 1974 and reportedly required the uses of 6,000 tonnes of dynamite.

You can find out more about the road here, but for now just enjoy this Turbo-tastic gallery.
