Watch two Teslas drive to Everest base camp

In what might be the high point of EV adventuring so far a pair of Tesla owners from China have completed a 2,000 km to trip that took them 5200 metres up to Mount Everest.

When bridge designer and travel vlogger Trensen discovered Tesla had completed its 318 Supercharging Route from Shanghai to Zhangmu he realised that it should be possible to get all the way from his home in Chongqing to the foot of the world’s tallest mountain. He set out with a buddy in their standard Model 3 and Model Y cars for a four-day trip that would see them tackling incredibly rough roads, having to fit snow chains, and even sleep in the car thanks to traffic gridlock. Good job Teslas come with a camping mode that includes a nice warming log fire display on the dashboard.

The duo charged nine times along the way and climbed to an altitude of 5.2km where the thin air would cause combustion engined cars serious trouble, but was a breeze for the two Teslas.
