Cars named after race circuits

1972 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona.jpg

There’s nothing more synonymous with speed than a race circuit. So it’s not surprising that car makers have been taking track names for their swiftest machines for decades. Maserati is the most prolific (with justification) but what the hell was Chrysler thinking? Here’s a quickfire list for you - please add any we’ve missed in the comments.

Daytona

A decent showing from Dodge, Shelby and Ferrari.

Sebring

Well done Maserati. Chrysler, you will never be forgiven.

Indy, Kyalami

Another strong showing from Maserati. And if it’s good enough for Pavarotti…

Le Mans

Yes, Bentley has its Arnage and Mulsanne, named after parts of the famous 24 hour circuit, but full naming rights go to Pontiac for this.

Pontiac Le Mans

Brooklands

Rather lovely from the Bentley boys and girls.

Bentley-Brooklands

Fiorano, Monza

Only Ferrari could name a car after its home circuits.
