ABOUT US
We believe in the romance of the road trip. We believe that cars are more than objects to be polished on the driveway or investments locked away to grow in value.
They exist to take you on a journey. To take your mind far away from everyday life; to set your heart racing as an alpine pass opens up ahead of you; to create memories with the friends and family who join you on your travels.
For us, the journey counts as much as the machine that gets you there. So this blog is full of inspiring road trips and stopovers that we want you, our fellow Detourists, to enjoy.
Meet the team
Nik Berg, Managing Director
Nik is the driving force behind Detour, which comes after decades of delivering enthralling drive stories from around the world to consumers in print, digital and social media. Nik was on the launch team of Top Gear magazine, and is an award-winning editor. His driving exploits have taken him from the world’s most dangerous road in Bolivia to the depths of the Australian outback, through Europe’s mountain passes, Morocco’s gorges and the massive dunes of Namibia to beyond the Arctic Circle, and from a snail’s pace on the Rubicon Trail to over 200mph at Nardo. After all that, he’s on a mission to secure the future for slow journalism, starting with Detour.

Jane has an Executive MBA (Cass) and over 20 years of leadership in commercial, mergers and acquisitions, new ventures and strategy. Away from business, she likes nothing more than taking on a restoration project. Not cars – Jane enjoys renovating houses, paying particular attention to the garage that houses her 911.
