Spied: a James Bond-themed driving adventure in Scotland

Bespoke travel company Pelorus has devised a 007 drive in the Highlands as part of a collection of Bond-based adventures.
Your mission starts with a flight to Inverness and high-speed driving lessons on a private race track under the tuition of a stunt driver. Next you’ll be able to pick from a selection of supercars to tackle sections of the North Cost 500, as featured in Skyfall. The all-action trip also involves helicopter rides, kayak and RIB rides, and abseiling down cliff faces, before pausing to sample some single malts (or a dry vodka martini) and staying on a private island.
The adventure costs around £13,000 for two people, and if you think that’s expensive wait until you hear what else Pelorus has in its 007 portfolio. An explosive 12-day Greenland-based trip aboard a luxury yacht costs over £400,000 for a group of 12 or you could go wild in the jungles of Thailand for £10,000 per person, while heli-skiing in the Dolomites and flying on to Venice is around £8,000 a night.
It’s the end of the road for 2025 and a chance to reflect on the best road trips of the year.

Jaw-droppingly beautiful and, for the most part, sparsely populated, road tripping north of the border is an utter joy. Even if the weather occasionally gets in the way.

Perched high on an Austrian mountain top, just like a villain’s lair is the incredible 007 Elements. Not simply a museum, but an immersion into the world of James Bond.
Bond fans will recognise this from the movie Goldfinger, where 007 runs Tilly Masterson off the road.
Eight bridges span a series of small islands, some so low that you feel you’re skimming the sea, while fishermen catch cod from the side. Others a roller coaster ride into the sky and down again.
