The Greatest Ever Road Race is to Run Again in South America

Bespoke Rallies is bringing back the Grand Prix of South America to capture the spirit of the 1948 original marathon event.

In October 26 competitors will embark on a 32-day, 11,000-km driving adventure through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, in their rally-ready classic cars.

That’s a leisurely pace compared to the racers who tackled a similar 10,000-km route in 1948 in just 14 days. Among them was Grand Prix legend Juan Manuel Fangio, who called it “The greatest ever road race.” His son Oscar will flag the cars off for the 2026 event

“Re-tracing the route of the greatest road race ever promises an extraordinary experience for all participants—veterans and novices alike,” says Rally Director John Brigden. “Having already revived the original adventure once, we’re confident that the 2026 edition will be even more thrilling and will forge friendships that last a lifetime.”
