Car camping just got a whole lot more convenient thanks to an ingenious modular kit that can convert an SUV into a motor home.
Okay, so that might be a slight exaggeration, but the Nest kits available from Egoé let you install a camp kitchen and double bed into your car for overnight detours.
Complete with a cooker, water storage, sink and fridge there are Nests for all types of vans and 4x4s such as the Land Rover Defender and Discovery, Jeep Wrangler and Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen.
You simply slide in the unit into the boot and fold down the back seats at sleep time, when the clever folding bed takes their place. There’s room beneath the bed for your gear, but the setup would probably work even better with a roofbox.
Prices start at just over €2,000 which seems fairly reasonable for that first step into the #vanlife.
