New Florida condos come with their own private race track

Petrolheads in the Sunshine State will soon be able to live life in the fast lane in one of 75 apartments at Circuit Florida.

Dotted around the 1.7-mile race track are 13 condominium buildings housing one- or two-bedroom homes, with extensive garages, while there are also two club buildings for members to relax and discuss the perfect lines around the circuit.

Located between Orlando and Tampa the 14-turn track has been designed by Bob Barnard who has previously had a hand in the layouts of the Daytona International Speedway and Road Atlanta circuits.

Due to open in December access to Circuit Florida will be exclusive to club members who pay a joining fee of $80,000 followed by $800 a month on top of the cost of a condo, which start at $475,000.

Racetrack residences like this are a booming business with new car-focused country clubs springing up all over the world. If the internal combustion engine goes the way of the horse-drawn carriage they might one day be the only place to enjoy the thrill of driving a petrol-powered car at speed.
