Porsche pitches new rooftop camping adventures

The latest Porsche Travel Experiences shun swanky hotels for nights atop an electric car.

The German sports car maker has tailored two three-day road trips starting in its home town of Stuttgart, with accommodation and wheels provided in the form of a Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo fitted with a two-person roof tent.

The Black Forest tour is adventure-oriented and includes hiking and zip-lining, alongside a drive though the forest’s fabulous twisty roads, while the Rhine-Hesse excursion is centred on the region’s sparkling wine with plenty of food and drink included in the agenda.

Whichever trip you opt for you’ll spend two night in a sizeable iKamper roof tent, with Porsche providing all camping gear. Driving the zero-emissions Taycan means the journey will be emissions-free, but with the Turbo S version delivering some 750 bhp and a 0-62 mph time of just 2.8 seconds it’ll still be a thrill ride through the Rhine. Appropriately-Porsche pricing is in play with each trip costing €2,490 per person.

For more extensive adventures owners of Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, Taycan and 911s can also order their own tent with prices from €5,0000.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen a road tripper take to the roof of a Porsche, however. That honour goes to Ben Coombs and his 924, and we suspect his budget was rather smaller.
