Vantage World Tour heads to the End of the World
Father and son Aston Martin adventurers Phil and Will Churchill have resumed their stop-start round-the-world road trip.
The duo had to leave their 2005 V8 Vantage in Costa Rica in 2023, after civil unrest meant they couldn’t complete the final border crossing in their quest to drive from London’s Pall Mall to Panama. Now they’re back to finish the American leg of their global journey which will be tackled in two stages
After making the 500-mile drive to Panama City, including a crossing of the Hill of Death, the highest point on the Pan-American Highway at an altitude of 11,000 feet, the car will be flown over the Darien Gap into Colombia. From there the Aston Martin will be driven south, passing through Ecuador and Peru before being parked up once more in Bolivia.
The Churchills will then return in September, aiming to reach to reach Ushuaia - the southernmost tip of the Americas. To get there they’ll travel through Chile and Argentina, to mark the end of this 6,600-mile part of the trans-world trip.
In 2023 the Vantage World Tour covered more than 8,000 miles across eight countries, from the UK, through the US, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Aside from choosing an Aston Martin for this drive-of-a-lifetime, what’s also unusual is that the tour is being tackled in two-week-long legs to fit in with Phil’s business commitments and Will’s studies. In 2025 the Vantage will be shipped to New Zealand and the pair will then cross Australia and the remaining legs of the journey from Vietnam to Malaysia, India to Pakistan and Dubai to London will see the adventure continue into 2026 at least.
The team are raising money for the charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (“CALM”), which fights suicide, the largest killer of men under 50 in the UK. You can follow the Vantage World Tour’s progress on the team’s website or on Instagram.
