Father and Son Aston Martin Adventurers Reach Southern Hemisphere
Phil and Will Churchill have finally crossed the equator, marking a milestone on their multi-year Vantage World Tour.
The duo left London in February 2023 and have broken down their circumnavigation of the globe into a series of short trips that fit into holidays. So, after shipping the car to the USA, it took them until July 2024 to reach Colombia. Unfortunately their summer drive south was cut short due a suspension failure, but in December they returned to Medellin to get back behind the wheel.
Over the next two weeks father and son drove 2,000 miles across Colombia, over the Andes mountains into Ecuador, with their 2005 Aston Martin V8 Vantage coping well even at an altitude of 10,000 feet. Only a bad earth connection briefly paused this leg of the trip, which ended in Lima, Peru. The pair will return again in June to tackle the ‘rest’ of South America, driving a further 4,000 miles through Chile and Argentina to Ushuaia.
The Churchills have now visited 12 countries and covered more than 12,000 miles, raising £24,000 for the charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (“CALM”), which fights suicide, the largest killer of men under 50 in the UK.
