Vantage World Tour Ticks Off The Americas

Vantage World Tour Atacama Desert Chile.JPEG

Phil and Will Churchill, the father and son team attempting to drive around the world in their Aston Martin V8 Vantage, have just completed the American leg of their marathon.

The duo are tackling this epic drive in stages, each just a few weeks in length, and since leaving London in February 2023 they have now covered 16,000 miles across 14 countries.

Almost all of those miles have been in the Americas. After just a short hop from London to Liverpool the Aston Martin was shipped to New York. From there it was 5,500 miles through the south-eastern United States and into Mexico. The third leg took them another 1,800 miles to Panama, then it was into Colombia where a minor accident causes a big delay. The Churchills were undeterred and finally crossed the Equator in December 2024, then headed into the Peruvian desert to Lima.

For the last stretch of their American odyssey the guys crossed the Andes to Argentina, but unfortunately the winter weather in the southern hemisphere prevented them from reaching Ushuaia, so they turned around and headed back to the port at Punta Arena is Chile. From here the car is being shipped to New Zealand for a 3,50-mile antipodean adventure at the end of the year. After that will come 1,800 miles from Vietnam to Malaysia, 2,400 between India and Pakistan, and a final 4,200 miles from Dubai to London.

Along the way the Churchills have raised £28,000 for mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), already beating their original target of £24,901, or a pound for every mile of the equator.

The Vantage World Tour is still far from over and we’ll keep following the chaps as they continue this incredible Detour.
