Detour Pit Stop #91: Yonder Escalante, Utah, USA

Drive-in at Yonder Escalante

Yonder Escalante might just be the coolest campsite in the USA.

This RV park in the epic location of Utah’s Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument was run down and ramshackle before Yonder took over and transformed it.

Now it’s the ultimate glamping experience in the most stunning surroundings. You can still turn up in your own RV for a stay, but if you’re headed into the desert by car, motorcycle or other means then you’ll want to book into one of the 22 stylish modern cabins or one of ten vintage airstreams that are permanently on site, each with its own firepit as the evenings can get chilly out here.

There’s a food truck serving breakfast every day and dinner at weekends, but the star of the experience is the amazing desert drive-in. Nine restored vintage cars are parked up in front of a big screen that shows classic movies nightly.

If you’re looking for a Pit Stop on a tour of Utah’s monumental national parks we can’t think of a better place.
