Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s Long Way Home Hits Apple TV+ on 9 May
Twenty years after circumnavigating the planet on two wheels for The Long Way Round Ewen McGregor and Charley Boorman are back on their bikes for another adventure.
They followed up their original round-the-world trip with The Long Way Down by driving from John o’Groats in Scotland to Cape Town in South Africa in 2007, and then rode from Ushuaia in Argentina to Los Angeles for The Long Way Up in 2019.
This time The Long Way Home will see the daring duo begin their journey at McGregor’s place in Scotland and finish at Boorman’s house in England – taking the long way, of course. A ride that could be tackled in a day instead becomes an epic detour through 17 countries over nine weeks, passing through Scandinavia, the Arctic and mainland Europe.
In the past the pair have ridden BMW GS motorcycles for Round and Down, while for Up they broke new ground by riding electric Harley Davidson Live Wire bikes. This time they’ve picked two classics, with McGregor riding a Moto Guzzi and Boorman on a old BMW boxer.
“We’re doing the journey on vintage, tempremental vintage 50-year-old bikes,” says Boorman. “I just love them to death,” says McGregor, before joking: “I shouldn’t say that, motorbikes are dangerous enough as it is!”
“It’s great to back on the road again,” adds McGregor.
We couldn’t agree more and will be tuning in on Apple TV+ as soon as The Long Way Home drops on 9 May. Will you?
