Tesla has opened a retro-futuristic diner in Hollywood, California, where drivers can fill up on burgers and fries while their cars guzzle electrons.

The diner, at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, also features two drive-in movie screens and a rooftop terrace, along with 80 V4 Superchargers.

Tesla boss Elon Musk has been wanting to “put an old-school drive-in, roller skates and rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA,” since 2019 and now his wish has come true. Alongside staff on skates serving customers in their cars Tesla’s Optimus robot has also been spotted on site, but whether it will be taking orders, serving food or even cooking remains to be seen.

On the subject of food it’s pretty standard diner cuisine, with hot dogs, burgers, club sandwiches and grilled cheese key menu items. Deserts include an all-American apple pie. You can order direct from the touchscreen of your Tesla and have your meal brought out to you or head inside the shiny structure for a sit-down.

After opening in its glamorous Hollywood spot, just a few minutes from the Walk of Fame, Musk is already planning ahead.

“If our retro-futuristic diner turns out well, which I think it will, @Tesla will establish these in major cities around the world, as well as at Supercharger sites on long distance routes,” Musk posted on X.
