When in Rome: book a room, a road trip and a Porsche to drive it

Rome’s Eden Hotel has just added a package designed for Detourists that includes a driving Porsche driving experience in the mountains.

The hotel provides a Porsche 718 Boxster, pre-loaded with a roller-coaster route to the top of Monte Terminillo, just over 70 miles and two hours away.

The Eden, which is one of the swanky Dorchester Collection’s two Italian hotels, throws in a picnic and a guided hike for two people, and reckons the round-trip will take eight hours in total.

The route has been mapped by The Drivers Club of Italy and designed to put the Porsche through its paces as you climb up as high as 2,000 metres on a series of switchbacks. At the end of a hard day’s driving and hiking you can relax in the 19th century surroundings of the Eden and its spa.

At €1,450 for two people the price is rather mountainous, mind.
