Citroën brings back a cult classic for its next camper
It’s just a concept for now, but this retro-styled “Type Holidays” shows the future of French campervans.
Designed as an homage to the H van of the late 1940s it’s actually a modern SpaceTourer underneath the classic corrugated bodywork and that means that it can be powered by a frugal diesel engine, or possibly a fully-electric setup as seen in the company’s Ë-Spacetourer.
The Type Holidays has been built with the help of Italian coachbuilder Caseleni and the interior has been completely reworked to sleep four people. A rock’n’roll rear bench seat folds flat to become a doubled bed, while a pop-top roof extends to reveal another bunk. Other camping necessities include a kitchen with plenty of cupboards, a dining table, storage for 25 litres of water and even a loo for emergencies.
It’s certainly room inside, but compact external dimensions make it ideally for exploring the little lanes of Europe on a #vanlife adventure.
Citroën says the Type Holidays is a preview of a new range of vans to be revealed by the end of 2023.
