Hypermiling Mustang Mach-E has no Range Anxiety
An electric Ford Mustang Mach-E has managed to travel 569 miles on a single charge to set a Guinness World Record.
It means the Mach-E has gone further on a tank of a electrons than any other production vehicle, even if it fell short of the 747 miles previously achieved by Mercedes’ experimental EQXX concept car.
The record was set on public roads with hypermiling experts Kevin Booker and Sam Clark somehow managing to exceed the car’s published range by 78 per cent. During the drive the car achieved an efficiency of 6.25 miles per kilowatt-hour from its 91 kWh battery and even covered 21 miles with the charge indicator on zero per cent.
It took just over 24 hours to cover a distance of 569 miles and 3,379 feet, across the roads of Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Cambridgeshire and the record-run was aided by the fitment of efficiency-optimised Bridgestone EV tyres.
