Lucid Just Took The Ultimate Electric Road Trip

A luxurious Lucid Air Grand Touring has taken the Guinness World Record for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge.

Starting in St Moritz, Switzerland the 830 bhp super saloon drove all the way to Munich in Germany without stopping to add any amps to the battery. The 1,205km or 749 miles completed exceeded the previous EV record set by 160 km, or just under 100 miles.

Behind the wheel was Umit Sabanci and his team, a London-based EV enthusiast with a penchant for record breaking. In 2024, Sabanci set the record for the most countries visited on a single charge in a production battery electric vehicle, crossing nine countries – also in a Lucid Air Grand Touring.

"When I completed the nine-country journey in 2024, it was just the beginning," said Sabanci. "This new achievement takes that journey even further. I'm proud to be part of a movement that proves electric mobility isn't just the future; it's already redefining what's possible today.”

The Lucid Air Grand Touring actually has an official WLTP range of 960km so Sabanci really stretched the car beyond its limits during the drive, which took place on a mix of mountain roads, secondary routes and motorways. According to Lucid, the car is not only a mile-eater, it’s a fast-charger as well, and can add 400 km (almost 250 miles) of range in just 16 minutes, which might just make it the ultimate electric road tripper.
