Meet the Detourists of 2025

They’re the people living the Detour dream on driving adventures all over the world, and their stories are always inspirational. So let’s take a look back at some of the incredible automotive adventurers we’ve met in 2025.

Jamie Hearne

Jamie (above) has spent the whole of 2025 making his way from Alaska to Argentina. Along the road he’s picked out the most memorable routes of his drive of a lifetime and shared them with us – from A Poem in Stone in Oregon to the Highway of Stars in Chile. Check out Jamies’s Detours here.

Jan Kalmar

Jan Kalmar not only builds extraordinary restomod Porsches through Kalmar Automotive, he also hosts the most incredible drives with his company Kalmar Beyond Adventure. Having visited 138 countries around the world he shared some of his Favourite Detours with us.

Adri Merino-Piferrer

When Adri decided that he wanted to drive to Japan he didn’t pick the obvious overlander. Instead he opted for a Honda S2000 and adapted it for the gruelling journey through deserts and mountains. Find out more

Will and Phil Churchill

Will and Phil Churchill also opted for an unlikely machine for their world tour – an Aston Martin Vantage. What’s more, rather than do the journey in one, they’ve been gradually circumnavigating the globe in two-week turns. 2025 saw them complete their Americas leg and reach New Zealand. Follow the adventure.

Fritz Burkhard

The world’s most valuable classic cars are kept in climate controlled collections and never driven. Except for the $30 million Bugatti Type 57 Atalante owned by Swiss entrepreneur Fritz Burkhard, who drove it 3,600 miles across America to display it at the annual Monterey Car Week. Discover more.

 Ewen McGregor and Charley Boorman

Pals Ewen and Charley took what might be their last big ride together as the took a trip from McGregor’s Scottish house to Boorman’s place in England via 17 countries. It made for another cracking TV show that certainly had Detour thinking of getting back on two wheels again. Read more.
